About Our Gardens

Lavender Rose Farms sits on a little over 2 acres and backs up to the River Raisin in Frenchtown Township, Mi (Monroe, Mi).

HISTORICAL TIES:  Our property is scenic and park like and was originally part of the Knapp farm (est. 1860).  Our farm is part of an old strip/ribbon farm. "
The original French and French Canadian settlers in Monroe County divided land using a traditional system of parceling property into long, narrow lots, each of which had frontage on the river, which was the main source of water, transportation, commerce, and communication."  (Monroe County Parks, Trails, and Recreation page 17).

Wild Grapes:  The River Raisin was named by the French for the wild grapes that grew along the banks in abundance.  There are still wild grapes growing on the banks of the River Raisin.  Wild grapes can be used in jellies and  jams and preserves.

The Lavender Field:  We have over 300 lavender plants of lavender in multiple different varieties.  We currently grow intermediate lavender - Grosso; and English lavender; Hidcote, Munstead, Melissa Lilac, Folgate and Royal Velvet. We are a non-traditional lavender farm.  We are not open to the public.  We, instead, grow lavender to make our lavender products and dried bouquets.

Our Pollinator Garden is filled with native wildflowers, nectar plants, and milkweed.  Our wildflower field is nationally registered as a Monarch Waystation as a "colossal" size habitat.

Cottage Garden/Cutting Garden:  We grow p
eonies, lilacs, roses, larkspur, Echinops  (thistle), and yarrow.

Herb & Vegetables & Berries:  We use raised bed gardening for herbs and vegetables and for strawberries and blueberries

PRODUCTION PARTNERS: Occasionally, we partner with other flower & lavender farms when we need supplemental flowers.  This can happen when we have sold out of our own flower or if some flowers or herbs aren't able to be grown in our Michigan growing zone.  Some current & past production partners include Victor's Lavender, LoveJoy Farms, Hammelman's, Herbst Mountain Farms, Right Choice USA, Dried Flowers Forever, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, & Bulk Apothecary.
